Mental Health First Aid

First Aid is the help given to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained. Mental Health First Aid is the help given to someone developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.

This nationally recognised Adult Mental Health First Aid Course will be of benefit to people working in a wide range of human services roles, especially those working in community settings. This program has been shown to be effective in improving mental health literacy, reducing stigma and increasing helping behaviours.

Course format
This is a 12 hour course run over two consecutive days. Each day will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm and there will be breaks with lunch and refreshments provided.

March: Tuesday 8 & Wednesday 9
August: Tuesday 2 & Wednesday 3
October: Thursday 20 & Friday 21

Cost
$250 per person for the 2 day workshop. A 10% discount is available for organisations booking in four people or more at the same time.

Presenter profile
Our facilitator, Leanne O'Reilly, is an accredited Mental Health First Aid instructor who holds a Bachelor of Social Work and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Her work experience has been in social housing and the disability sector. Leanne currently manages a multi-disciplinary health team which supports adults with spinal cord injury living in the community and in addition to her direct work supporting clients she also facilitates training for personal care assistants.

Participants receive:
A copy of the MHFA manual to keep; a certificate of completion; lunch and refreshments.

  4. Ensure you have read terms and conditions
  5. Fax completed form to ParaQuad on (02) 8741 5650
  6. Receipt of your fax will be confirmed by email. If your booking form has not been acknowledged within one week contact training@paraquad.org.au
  7. An invoice and confirmation letter will be forwarded upon confirmation and will need to be paid at least 5 days prior to training session.
  8. Information for participants will be emailed to booking contact person for distribution
