As an organisation, we want to play our part in tackling climate change and depletion of resources by reducing our own environmental impact. This makes sense to us because our vision is to continue to grow and provide vital services to people with spinal cord injury for generations to come, and do so sustainably. As part of our commitment, we are examining where we can reduce greenhouse gas, water and waste impacts within our daily operations across our sites including our head office in Sydney, Ferguson Lodge and the Newcastle office.
One of our most recent initiatives approved by the ParaQuad Board is to replace lights at both our Newington site and Ferguson Lodge with LED lights, which consume less energy per year than incandescent and fluorescent lighting. We will also be installing solar panels at both sites. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but we expect the installations to be completed by the end of the year.
